To attack the caster, the monster must succeed on a DC 12 Will saving throw. If the monster passes the check, the character can be attacked normally–otherwise, the monster will chose another target. The effect only works if there is more than one party member left. If the caster is the only character left alive, the monster will attack normally. In addition, if the wearer performs an offensive* action, all effects of this spell are negated.

Once the monster succeeds on the saving throw, it is free to attack that character for the remainder of combat. I.e., it doesn’t have to roll a saving throw every round.

*An offensive action is defined as doing at least one of the following:

• Attacking
• Casting a damage-inflicting spell or scroll
• Casting a spell or scroll that requires a magic/spell resistance check
• Casting a spell or scroll that requires a saving throw
